Hey there sweets!  

Todays inspiration comes from the pages of Paper Crafts magazine.  When I saw this gradient star, and simple layout, I knew it was the perfect starting point for my Valentine card.

I brought out some fun glitter from American Crafts, and set to work by die-cutting a heart, and running it through my Xyron sticker maker. 

I then took a white panel and stamped the little hearts from the Kiss Me set, in gold ink.  I layered up the glittered die cut heart with foam adhesive, and added a strip of vellum, heat embossed with my sentiment.

 

Lastly, I added some fun sequins, and outlined my panel with a black multi liner, before adhering it to a pink card base.  It is certainly more embellished than the original, and that's okay!  It is all about getting that creative spark, and running with it.

Watercolor Thanks

Hey Sweets, it's Lindsay, and it's time again for a little Inspiration 101!

Since starting this series, we've looked at using Journaling cards and magazine ads.  This week, I thought I would use something most of use on a regular basis for card inspiration, Pinterest!  I have to admit, I am a Pinterest junkie!  I have two main boards I use for card inspiration, one of which is entitled such, and the other Color My World.  I know we can all agree, color is extremely important in setting the tone of your project.

So today, I chose this fabulous watercolor image from among them.  Taking the colors, as well as the white sentiment on top of it, I created this card.  I started with using distress ink, on watercolor paper.

Using the sentiment and the circle image from Cookie Sprinkles, I stamped and embossed in both white and gold powder over top of my watercolor splotches.  

I let my panel dry well overnight and placed it under a stack of magazine to flatten it out.  To make sure that it adhered nice and flat, I used super strong adhesive to adhere it to my Kraft card base.

Inspired By Advertisements

Hey sweet friends!

Lindsay here, and I am back today with another Inspiration 101 post.  We all have magazine, or subscribe to them.  I have oodles of them sitting around, so I decided to go on a mission, looking for anything that sparked my interest.  Well, I found an ad for the beauty store, Ulta, and a bottle of perfume.

As you can see, there was pink, black and outlined flowers in this little picture, and I used them all for my card here.

Taking the outline flowers from the Elegant Flowers set, I heat embossed them randomly onto a pink panel.  I then took a black card base, and adhered that panel with foam.

To finish it, I stamped a sentiment from Elegant Sentiments in white, and adhered it in the middle, again, taking inspiration from the ad.

Amp It Up With Embossing Paste!

Oh boy, do I ever have some fun for you today.  I finally decided to try out a fun technique that people are just going crazy for and I can't wait until you see the final results.  I think you will love it but first our sketch for today is the current sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch which I totally adore.  Can't you just see it oozing inspiration?   

For my straightforward, by the book (er...sketch) card, I'm using the super fun Baking Love set.  This set is a total must have.  I have no idea how I have lived so long without it.  ;)

I knew I wanted to have the piping bag pipe out my sentiment and I played with a couple different options.  I settled for embossing the "hello" and then using a Versamark pen to extend the sentiment with a little squiggly line to the card's edge.  I stamped the piping bag on some patterned paper with splashes of pink to bring another color into the card.  A little cutting and I had a super cute popped up piping bag decorating my card for me.  Finish it off with a few glitter tape hearts and you have a great little take on this week's sketch.

For my ampped up take on the sketch, I'm going to use the Elegant Flowers stamps set.  I swear I have been turning to this set time and time again.  It's good for SO many occasions and who doesn't need a stamp set like that? 

I used a similar technique to last week's card in order to create a stencil with my Silhouette Cameo using the flower image from Elegant Flowers.  You can check out a step-by-step video on how I made this card on my YouTube channel.  Once I created the stencil for my background, I smeared the silver embossing paste over the top, pulled off the stencil, and let the image dry.  I loved the look of the silver embossing paste on the silver paper.  SO pretty.  I finished the card off by stamping the flower image on a piece of silver cardstock, cutting it out, and adding the image along with a die cut "thanks" to the card front.  A little bling and you have a much more involved version of our sketch.

Throwback Thursday- Chemistry

Welcome back to another Throwback Thursday! I announced the winner for last weeks Throwback Thursday. You can check it our HERE to see if you won! :)

But I am back with this super fun set "Chemistry". Even if you are not a science-type kind of guy this set is so fun to play with along with all the GREAT sentiments included in it.

 I played around with a couple ideas and this week nothing was coming together...Then I had an aaah HA moment. I loved what Michelle Duffy did on her layout this past week with the vellum overlay! If you missed that post you can check it out HERE. I LOVE Love love vellum so I wanted to try out that technique since the rest of what I kept trying to do was such a flop.

Here is my card:

 I love how the vellum really tamed down my image and really allowed me to POP the rest of my elements away from it. AND, as you will notice, I used the Mini Periodic Table. But that stamp comes in a square so I tapped off the ones I did not want ink on and then stamped them all individually in a row. I then used my Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel from Stampendous on  a metal frame that was originally green and embossed to make it better match. (if you have never done this before PLEASE BE CAREFUL YOUR METAL WILL BE VERY HOT!!!!!!) This is by far one of my favorite crafting techniques! You can practically emboss anything you can get the powder to stick too. I love embossing my picture frames. I will use multiple colors which creates a fun marbled distress kind of a look. It really creates an awesome effect, I do say.

I just loved the sentiment "You have a heart of gold"  and I coincedentally had gold heart pins from My Minds Eye that I just recently picked up from my work!!! I attached a green chevron ribbon to add an extra little pop and voila!  Fun HUH???

Throwback Thursday's - Pattern Craze

Hi everyone!!! Welcome back to this week's Sweet Stamp Shop's Throwback Thursday. I am featuring Pattern Craze on the blog today and....

This is a MUST HAVE stamp set! 

Just look at it lol. It pretty much speaks for itself :) Patterns, geo-metric shapes, sizes, OPTIONS!!!!! HOT and TRENDY!!!!

Pattern Craze

 I use this stamp set a lot because of the versatility I get from it.

This week I took my inspiration from the Play Date Cafe's challenge blog. The theme for this week's challenge was, It's a {Splash} of Neon. I just LOVED their color scheme they had going...Black, white, and neon yellow (although it looks green to me and that is what I used for my card, neon green)

 

It's VERY TRENDY this week just like the stamp set. I didn't enter my card in the challenge since it was over before Thursday's Throwback, but it is still fun to play along and a GREAT way to draw your inspiration from. I was also going to use a sketch from another challenge blog, but I ended up doing my own thing once I broke out the stamp set and got to work.

This is my card that I came up with:

I got out my watercolor pencils for this card and colored in some of the hearts with black on the panel I created, just to give it a little pop and add a little something! Then to give the panel I stamped and embossed on separation, I matted in black. Next, I grabbed the plain hexagon and the dot hexagon and stamped on white and trimmed out. I like the idea of just layering them slightly underneath with out being "neat" about it. For a little more texture, I broke out the trusty mist and added some neon splash and then my black and neon pens and did some border lines. Then I just accented with a few embellies and a sentiment.

For my sentiment I first stamped Epic from Starts Here in neon green and then stamped right in the middle, Happy Birthday from Zombies. I love how perfectly they fit together.

Welcome back friends, I hope you checked out the new Sweet Stamp Shop release yesterday. It was pretty amazing :) Lots and lots of inspiration.

Well it's Throwback Thursday and I am showcasing Weird Love. It may be a small set but it packs a mighty punch.

 I am not sure about you but I have a plethora of adhesive in my stash and one of my go too is scor-tape. It has such versatility, you don't have to cut it and it is so strong! But you can also emboss on it, yep that's right! It is a paper based adhesive so it won't melt when you heat it up like the red line tapes. Cool huh?

 Here is what I used.

1/8 in scor-tape

1/4 in scor-tape

Embossing powder

  

Then I just finished off with the super cute mustache, a sentiment and a couple enamel dots!
