Here's my layout:
Before I stamped on the background, I actually stamped on some scrap paper and cut out the pieces. I chose inks that coordinated with the colors already in the patterned paper. This was my rough plan before stamping with Calendar and Distressed Chevron:
Now I was confident in what I was doing so I went ahead and stamped! I added some text and arrow stamps using black ink and ended up with a page like this:
Next, I thought the stamped calendar was a little out of proportion with the rest of the page. My eye was drawn to the calendar instead of the photo. So I just layered some embellishments over it. You can still see that it's a calendar, but it doesn't stand out as much.
Then some text stickers and arrows down the side, to direct your eye to the photo:
Then to balance the layout, I embellished the upper right corner of the photo. Notice that I restamped the little View Finder banner (that I previously covered up) onto yellow paper and cut it out.
Here's the completed layout again:
To sum up some of my tips for stamping on your scrapbook page background:
- Plan out your stamping. Stamp on scrap paper and cut out the pieces to better visualize on your layout.
- Cover up stamping mistakes with embellishments or patterned paper.
- Give it a try and have fun!!
