Nicole's Early Morning - Bonus Post!

Happy Sunday Sweets! I don't know what the deal is this morning but, I was wide awake (in a bit of a panic) at about 4am this morning. Don't know exactly what I was in a panic about - but, I thought I would capitolize on being wide awake and post this layout that I did yesterday morning.

I had a couple moments yesterday to play along with a challenge I've been meaning to try for some time. 'Mojo Monday' - it's a sketch based challenge that just so happens to be celebrating its 300th challenge - Wow. Perfect timing Nicole!

Here is the sketch...

I had every intention to make a card - but as the elements were coming together it was clear - it was a layout. YEP, I finally had the 'MOJO' to make a layout. Something I haven't done for some time. I really wish that I'd go back to making more layouts - I love scrapbooking (it's where I got my start) and I think it's a teenie tiny bit more 'timeless' than cards. (ack, I know - hear me out - I mean that you're more likely to pass on and cherish layouts with pictures and journaling than just a stack of cards)

ANYWAY - Thanks to MOJO Monday - I have a pretty rockin' layout. :)

How awesome does that corrugated chipboard letters go with the look? Squeal! That worked out quite nicely!

Now let's get to the SWEET of it -

I used a couple different sets -

Spin Me

Eye Love

I love to use stamps on my layouts - mostly b/c I think that it adds a great extra 'layer' to the layout. Meaning, you almost create a custom pattern paper for your layout.

NEW TO STAMPING ON LAYOUTS?

Here's some rules that I like to stick by (that seem to work pretty good for me)

1. Get your general layout together and decide where you want your stamping - which stamps - and gently mark with a pencil the *general* area you want to 'stamp'.

2. Stamp in the same color ink - and in the beginning, stay neutral. It makes the stamping more of an understated part of the layout.

3. Be sure and confident when stamping! You know, stamp with purpose. You'll make less mistakes and you'll save yourself LOTS of paper. :) You know how to stamp - you got it!

BONUS idea!

Did you see my little texture area on the 8.5 x 11 layout - Are you thinking to yourself, That's an embossing folder?! How'd she run that through her embossing machine - that paper is way too big! ---- Yep, you'd be right! That paper is too big. But, that doesn't stop me from using my embossing folders. :)

Ready for my trick - it's really technical and special....

I take the embossing folder - walk into a space with hard floors - put the folder where I want it on the paper, and - STEP ON IT!

Don't worry - you won't break your folder or crease your paper. (just be careful!)

WAAA-LAAA

Embossed portion of your layout!

Thanks for stopping in this Sunday! - If you're a newbie to the blog and stamp shop WELCOME!

OHHHH - Don't forget...

Quick reminder - you'll wanna 'join' our July Release Event Page HERE
