A Quick and Easy Masking Technique

Hi everyone! My name is Nicole, and I’m currently a designer for Sweet Stamp shop. I’m having so much fun creating pretty cards using their newest releases; and, today I wanted to share a super easy way to create cards using a masking technique. This technique is perfect for single layers cards; however, you can use them on any type of card or layout, too. I tend to use this technique a lot because I love single layer cards.
There are plenty of temporary adhesives you can buy online and at your local craft shop; however, they can be a little pricey at times. In the past I had a friend show me how she created cards with this masking technique; however, instead of the fancy adhesives she simply used Post-it notes—and so do a lot of other great crafters. It’s affordable and they come in a wide variety of sizes and colors.

I created a short video showing the details, go ahead and check it out!

I created this card with the stamp set, Press It Wash It. This stamp set is so versatile—it’s a perfect stamp set! If you’d like to share your creations using SSS stamps, and the masking technique head on over to their Flickr page to have your projects seen by everyone. You can also join us on FB where we have loads of updates and inspiration. You can find the FB page, here.

Thank you for your time, and feel free to let me know what you think in the comments. For more of my projects you can view my blog, here.

So we'll introduce each one with a little about them, in their own words... and then we'll show off their goodies! EEK!

My name is Nicole. I'm from Los Angeles county, and I've been a crafty person most of my life. I've only been a paper-crafter for about 3 years now, and I'm so addicted to stamps, and all the crafting tools that go along with it. I'm also a shop owner--I love to share my creations with others--making people smile when they get their packages in the mail makes me so happy.

{amazing, right?! We're so lucky to have Nicole designing for us - she takes the most amazing photos - and her cards are just out of this world! - to 'pin' any of her cards, simply roll your mouse over the picture and click the 'pin it' icon}

My name is Tyra. I am a married mom to three kiddos under four, living in the Midwest. When I’m not serving as the personal concierge to my family, you can find me sharing my creative journey at justtyra.com or sharing a crafty find at craftswag.com. Currently I’m loving the colors gray, teal and yellow, the TV show Once Upon a Time, College & Pro football, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. I am delighted to be a part of the Sweet Stamp Shop Design Team and I look forward to working with such a talented bunch!

{We're so glad that we got Tyra to come back again - she's just so darn talented! - I want those cute tags!! - And, those cookies, don't they look good enough to eat!YUM! Welcome back Tyra!}

Hi, my name is Charlene. I'm a Mom of two little boys, a wife to an awesome hubby, a scientist, and paper-crafter. The thing that I love the most is spending quality time with my family. I got into card making a few years ago when I was introduced to clear stamps at a craft show and then my obsession with Copic markers and pretty much all things crafting followed shortly thereafter. I am so thrilled to be a part of the Sweet Design Team this winter.

{Charlene's work is so impressive - from her cute and unique cards to her excellent photography - we're super excited to have her on board and can't wait to see all the amazingness that comes from her talented fingers!}
My name is Annette Witherspoon. I’ve been married to my husband John for ten years and I am a mommy to two precious kids who keep me on my toes. Before joining mommy world, I was a public relations professional for 10 years.I am primarily a card maker who occasionally makes other paper crafting projects. I started dabbling in paper crafts a several years ago - shortly after receiving a handmade wedding card. I fell in love with the idea of creating one-of-a-kind cards made straight from the heart. Three years ago, I ramped up my crafting endeavors when I started my blog, www.aspoonfullofsugarcrafts.blogspot.com, which is a play on my real name. A is the first letter of my first name, and Spoon is the last half of my last name. I also design for Eyelet Outlet, which sells eyelets, brads, ribbon and washi tape. Prior design experience includes A Jillian Vance Design, Pink by Design Stamps, Frosted Designs challenge blog, Joy’s Life Stamps, and Stampendous. I also wrote for ScrapStreet Magazine, an online scrapbooking and paper crafting magazine. My work has been published in Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking Magazine (formerly Paper Crafts Magazine) and ScrapStreet Magazine.I am looking forward to using Sweet Stamp Shop’s products to create some unique and whimsical designs!

{Annette is such a sweet addition to our designer family! - Look for her one of a kind cards and just the most amazing personality - she's even doing a blog series that I think will be the most popular yet - so stay tuned!}

Hi, I'm Samantha Mann and I couldn't be happier to be part of this team! My husband and I have lived all over the US, from Washington State to Florida, but we're currently in hot, humid, coastal South Carolina! We have two little boys (who I usually call my little menn)! I have always been in love with school supplies (ever since elementary school when i would save my nickels to buy cute pencils or erasers!) and that love just grew and developed into my crazy obsession (read: passion!) of paper crafting! I love making cards and even dabble with the occasional scrapbook layout! I tend to lean towards clean and simple design, but not always! I am all about learning new techniques from fellow crafters! I'm definitely quirky, and love to make playful, humorous sentiments for my cards (and layouts!)! I work full time for an advertising company and spend every other moment I can paper crafting, reading and enjoying the little moments in everyday family life.

{Samantha has been a long time friend and fan of the sweet shop and we couldn't be happier to bring her into the sweet fold! --- She's got a great eye for using stamps in a way that you might not think of - and she's just the best at cheerleading - if you find a comment on one of your sweet cards, odds are - it's Samantha! SO happy to have her!}

Hi! I am Lindsay, and I live in Northeast Ohio with my Husband John and two boys, Dallas and Jonathan. I love camping, biking, baking and cooking, but most of all...papercrafting! Nothing beats the blues like some cardstock and ink! I am thrilled to be back, designing with Nicole's adorable images, they are just plain "sweet!"

{Oh my goodness - we are over the moon having Lindsay back again with us. She was a sweet designer almost from the beginning - and it's so nice to have her back. Her designs are breath taking and she's just the sweetest little lady to have around! Welcome back Lindsay, we missed you!!}

I'm Chrissy and I'm a former officer in the U.S. Air Force. My husband was also in the Air Force and often teases that I'm CINC (Commander In Chief) of the household because I keep things running and everyone takes their orders from me. He has no idea how right he is! I have three boys who attend the new Iowa Virtual Academy which means they do public school at home. Needless to say, they keep me busy. My solace in the day is my craft space and card making is how I unwind. Little did I know when my mother introduced me to making cards in high school just how big a part of my life it would become. I remember teasing her about her obsession with stamps and paper and now I'm 100x worse than she ever was. I often say I'm half tech geek, half artsy fartsy. These two sides work well together since I love creating sketches to work from (I consider them my blueprints) and I adore using my computer in my crafting. I'm inspired by the amazingly "sweet" images Nicole and Alyssa create so I can hardly wait to get inky with you guys. Let's have some fun!

{We're super excited to bring Chrissy on - she's such a energetic sweet gal, so she fits right in around the sweet shop. We're excited to show you how versatile her designs are and all the cool products she uses when creating cards (like that glitter card up there - WOW}

Hello, everyone! My name is Melissa Chipperfield. I am a wife and mother to four children, ages 9 and under. I love many creative things, but I've found stamping is definitely one of my favorites these days! My other passion is photography! The two are combined over on my creative blog, Oh, Smudge! Clean and simple cards are my style of choice. I am a registered dental hygienist by trade, but with a family to raise, I now only spend about four hours per week at the office. I am super excited to be a part of the Sweet Stamp Shop team and can't wait to share inspiration with you!

{Did you notice how awesome Melissa's photos are?! We're super excited for her to join us and teach you how to create amazing photos for your blog! Know what we like best? She's not a professional photographer, she's just like you and me - except she's figured out a couple tricks she wants to share! Shreek! Can't wait! --- AND, he cards are pretty amazing too, right?}

So, that's it - that's the new team! Of course, it goes without saying that you'll be seeing Nicole, the owner on here from time to time - and Danni, our design team coordinator will be here - and, we LOVE Alyssa in the Sweet Shop ... she's not going anywhere! So, you'll see some old faces with the new ones! WELCOME one and all!

I hope you'll take a moment and visit the design teams blogs (they'll have bonus content on each of their blogs) AND, be sure to follow this blog so that you can get all the news straight to your feed! Who knows, we might even be giving away stamps to some lucky 'commenters' --- so take a moment and comment along the way - it'll be worth your while! Promise!
