Changing Up the Look of Your Stamps!

Good morning!  Jamie back with you today with a quick tutorial to change up your stamps!  I am working with three stamps from the Packaged Pretty set and will show you two different ways I use to change the look for my project.  This stamp set is one of my favorites to change up...I just love the borders it provides and of course, the sentiments!

1.  Stamp the love tag in black ink on grey cardstock.

2.  Stamp the Just Because sentiment the same leaving a nice border of cardstock for cutting.

3.  Cut the love tag with a 1/4" border then cut the sentiment stamp to fit within the smallest border of the love tag.

4.  Add foam adhesive to the back of the sentiment stamp.

5.  Adhere the sentiment to the center of the love tag.

6.  Punch a circle to cover the sentiment within the circle stamp then place it down on your colored or patterned paper.  Ink up your stamp and center the sentiment over the white cardstock then stamp.  Remove the white circle and then punch or trim around the patterned border.

I just love the flexibility and how easy it is to completely change the look!  Have a look at my finished project...

Patterned Paper: Plumeria 6x6 (Basic Grey)

Adhesive: Adhesive Runner and Zapdots (Helmar)

Dies: Winter Gift Bag by Samantha Walker (Silhouette)

Ink: Kettle Colorbox (Clearsnap)

Sticker: Metal Dragonfly (Momenta)

Ribbon: Pink Crinkle and White Fiber (May Arts)

Happy Friday - A quick note from Nicole

Hi crafty gals! (and maybe even a couple guys!)

First, thank you so much for your over whelming support of our new release. I was packaging like a mad woman this morning and can let you know that if you've placed an order yesterday thru this morning - your package is in route to the USPS!

I know I don't have to tell you that these past couple months have been really slow in business - (I think it has A LOT to do with the election) - SO, it was so heart warming to have such an amazing turn out for the new release. I want to let you know that when you support a small business like mine - it is greatly and completely appreciated. (and ultimately  it's going to help me finally hire some of that help I've been needing!)

Happy Friday all you "sweet" lovers!!  Kari with you today!!  Did you all enjoy the October Release Week!??  There are some really cute sets in this release!

Well - today it is a regular post featuring Packaged Pretty.  Halloween is right around the corner - so I wanted to feature how you could wrap up some chocolate and give to someone special - although the packaging itself is not Halloween themed.

Who doesn't love getting chocolate - and better yet, it being presented to you in nice way.  I took a plastic container that you can buy in bulk through places like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or even online at Oriental Trading, and filled it with an assortment of minature chocolate.  For the tag, I used the "Warning..." sentiment as it is the truth if someone gave me chocolate as a nice gesture - it would cause a happy dance :).  The blue circle is actually a piece of acetate that I colored with a BG13 Copic Marker, and I stamped the sentiment with Black Staz-On ink.  To wrap it around the container - I just used some gold elastic cord.  I punched out two scallop circles from Green Core'dinations card stock - I love the texture of this card stock.  I used one for my blue acetate circle, and then I used the other scalloped circle for the top of the lid, and I added a cute dimensional sticker for extra flair.  

Then, I wanted to pair that up with a simple - "Just because" card.  I used some textured Bazzill card stock, and put some more of that textured Core'dinations card stock for my panel, and added another dimensional felt sticker - and stamped the "Just because sentiment" in Black Memento ink.  

I think this pair would make anyone's day :)  I know it would me!  And, what better to "Package" it "Pretty" with some 'sweet' stamps!

Against the Grain and Something New!

Hello Crafters!

It's Kelly here and I'm so excited to share my Sweet Stamp Shop projects with you! But before we get to the cards I have something even more exciting to share with you :)

Did you know that the Sweet Stamp Shop has a Flickr group?! Flickr is such an amazing tool not only for you to see our projects (even though there is a whole years worth of inspiration in the gallery) but for us to see yours too! :) We love seeing all the creative ways you all use Sweet Stamp Shop stamps! Plus it will give us a chance to tell you why we love your projects and share them with others!

Need another reason to go visit our Flickr? . . .hmmm . . . How about a challenge? Yep I said it, CHALLENGE! Squeel!! Every Thursday we will be posting a new challenge in our flickr group and we hope you'll play along! Nicole is super generous so there will be stamps to win as well as Guest Design Team spots! Are you excited? because I sure am!! The challenge will officially start next Thursday August 23rd and I can't wait to see what you make! Speaking of making things I do have some cards to share with you today :)

Today I decided to work with Against the Grain. Now for those of you who don't know me I should tell you I'm all about stretching my stamps. The most bang for my buck if you will :) So I'm sharing three cards with you using this one stamp set differently. Also all the sentiments are from Packaged Pretty. Ready?! Here we go!

For this first card I embossed with clear after stamping in black. I then dabbed on some super bright inks! I love bright colors with black and white, makes my little heart pitter patter :) I used the circle from Packaged Pretty but I masked the sentiment so I could replace it with the thank you. A little tip, my embossing came out really terrible because I didn't use a good black ink. My bad :( Since I wanted the black to really pop I went over the embossing with a black alcohol marker. You don't need anything fancy, a sharpie will do :) Alcohol markers will color embossing quite nicely making my dirty gray dark black! 

Next up Make your own embellishment

For this card I did the exact opposite of the previous one. I rubbed picked raspberry, squeezed lemonade, and dried marigold all over my paper. Once dry (seriously you guys, if your distress ink isn't 100% dry you will have an embossing disaster! I learned the hard way :) I stamped the wood grain in versamark and heat set in clear. Then I rubbed black soot distress ink over the entire thing. Once you buff off the extra those colors POP! I die cut them into hearts and added some glitter. I think they look kinda zebra striped :)

Lastly, selective coloring

I heat embossed the wood grain again, this time using actual black powder (I swear I don't normally emboss this much! hehe) then used an exacto knife to cut out only portions of the background. I put the background down temporarily to trace where I needed to color with the distress inks. Once they were colored I just adhered the panel down flat. I thought it provided enough interest it could stand alone, after I added stickles to the colored parts of course!
