Using DIY Journaling Cards in Cardmaking

Happy Saturday! It's Tyra and I'm here to share a few ideas on adding do-it-yourself journaling cards to your CAS creations.  First, let's take a look at the stamp sets I'll use today: Baking Love, Press It Wash It,  Monogram It and Cookies Sprinkles (whew!).

The journaling card's cloud "theme" served as inspiration to create the following card:

I used various sentiments from each of the stamp sets above to create a love-themed Valentine's day card.  The journal card is pre cut from a die cutting machine, however one could easily create their own journaling card.
  • First, trim paper to 3 by 4 inches.
  • Use your existing punches or steel dies to create a design  that is all your own.
  • Add some SWEET stamps to personalize your creation.
Notice that most of the card elements are contained within the  journaling card (with the exception of that cute umbrella!) while maintaining a fair deal of white space.

Keeping with theme of hearts and love, I created the second card:

Yes, I realize this card is pushing the boundaries of CAS design with the layers of paper and embellishment, but sometimes you will never know when you are inspired to add a little extra.

I played off of the main arrow in the journaling card and added a heart featuring arrows.  Lastly, I used the Monogram It set  and the heart stamp from Cookie Sprinkles to create a sweet sentiment.

That's all for now! Don't forget to join the January release party!  Trendy and traditional stamps to be revealed next week!! Thanks so much for stopping by! Take care and have a wonderful weekend.
