Designer Spotlight #6: Lisa Carroll

Guess who's turning 30 this coming week?!

MR. SWEET!

Yep, as much as he'd love to stay 'twenty something' he's officially moving into his 30's and you know we couldn't let that pass by without ONE MAJOR PARTY! --- OK, maybe not a major party, but a pretty major week-long tropical vacation!

Yep, as you're reading this we're jetting off to a tropical land far away to soak in the sun and celebrate the amazingness of Jacob 'Mr. Sweet'!

I know, your first thought was....

HOORAY FOR JACOB

... and then your second thought was...

AW, A TROPICAL GET-A-WAY, I NEED ONE OF THOSE

... and I agree! --- and I'm thinking your third thought was...

WAIT - WHAT ABOUT THE BIGGEST SALE WEEK AND ME GETTING HOOKED UP WITH SWEET!?!?!

... we've got you covered, and we're doing it starting TODAY!

Yep, you've read that right -
  • 40% off your total stamp purchase (even the clearance stuff) starting today and ending next Friday.  Coupon Code BFS40 (supplies are limited and the sale is good for stamps in stock only) -- (like, I think I only have 3 Monogram It stamp sets left) So, you won't want to wait!
  • Due to the main shipper (me) being far from the sweet headquarters, shipping will not start until Dec. 2nd. --- Danni will be available to answer questions and help you - feel free to email or post on Facebook, info@sweetstampshop.com
  • Spend $50 and get a free stamp set - Valued at $7.95 - yep, that's even WITH the coupon code - so, that's pretty cool! (It's a surprise set - so as long as your total is more than $50 - we'll just pop that right in the package for you! - no need to add anything to your cart)

OK, now you know all the details for our Thanksgiving - Black Friday Week Long Extravaganza ... it's time to shop! Happy Thanksgiving PEPS!

Thanks for that very important message, Nicole!   A week-long tropical vacation sounds really good to me right about now! (So does a big SALE!)  It's Judy here, and I am stopping by to share my next installment of "Designer Spotlight!"

Today I am spotlighting one of my favorite card-makers.  Yes, I admit I have been a long-time admirer of her work and, to top it all off,  I love the fact that she is a mother of four, just like me!  Without further ado, let me turn the spotlight onto Lisa Carroll!

Lisa's blog, INKlinations, is as clean and classy as her card-making style...you must stop by to visit her!  Not only does she homeschool her four children, but she is currently a Design Team member for the Wednesday Challenge Blog at Simon Says Stamp (found HERE), a past Design Team member at A Blog Named Hero, a Guest Artist for the "Stretch Your Stamps" online card class (available HERE), and she was among the very first group of Hero Hostesses at the Hero Arts blog.  WOWZA!  Lisa also participates in a wide range of online card challenges...be sure to check out her blog and her amazing cards!

Speaking of amazing cards, Lisa was able to play around with two of the November release stamp sets:

OK, now make sure you are sitting down because you are about to be totally amazed.  Check out these gorgeous cards by Lisa!

Well, hello, there!   Look at those gorgeous little flowers, so perfectly colored and stamped!  They look like a beautiful patterned paper if you ask me!

Yes, I am definitely feeling the LOVE with this card!  The colors!  The background!  The symmetry of it all!  LOVE, indeed!

To top it all off, Lisa graciously answered a few questions for our sweet readers, too!
Q:  How many cards do you make, on average, in a week?
A:  Never as many as I'd like, of course, but I usually have time for two or three... I tend to be a slow(er) card maker. :)

Q:  What is your favorite stamping technique?
A:  Probably masking, since it can give a lot of dimension and interest to otherwise clean and simple cards - which are my favorite. You can also use masking to customize or rearrange sentiments to better fit into your card's design. Emboss-resist would be a very, very close second.

Q:  What advice would you like to give beginning stampers?
A:  My advice: Play, play, play, as often as possible. Make the time to get inky a little each day... even if you don't actually end up making something, you'll surely have learned something! Don't worry about mistakes or doing things "just right." The most amazing discoveries happen when you least expect them! And remember that inspiration can strike at any time, so always keep a little notepad handy to jot down ideas.  Above all, have FUN! :)

Great, big, SWEET thanks to Lisa for allowing us to spotlight her today...be sure to visit her blog HERE for even more inspiration!  (You can also stop by my blog to see what Lisa's work inspired me to make!)

Quick reminder: Don't forget about the special sale going on...40% off all stamps between 11/22 and 11/29 (or until supplies are gone) using coupon code BFS40.  Check out our Facebook page for details!

Have a sweet day, friends!
