First and foremost I want to say Happy Veteran's Day!!
I cannot thank our service members enough for all that they do! Past and Present I am proud to honor you today!
(And My Love, I am so thankful for the time you put into the service! You have been such a role model for our children (and me), to show dedication, loyalty, and honor in a way that not many can do! Thank you for showing us that. And even tho you aren't in the military any more you continue to show us how amazing and completely cool and awesome you are! I love you with every piece of my being!!)
Ok, so now we are on to other fun (and not so sappy) and exciting news!!!!
Who doesn't love a giveaway?!?!? I know I do!!! And I am super excited about this particular one because it is FULL of some awesomeness, including: Scor-Tape, Glitter, and Envelope Maker!!!! And a big lovely thank you to our friend Theresa (the Scrapbooking Queen) for donating all these goodies!!!
So, I am a huge, like really HUGE, lover of Scor-Tape. You maybe thinking to yourself, "why would she love it so much?" or "ya, I like it too but what is the big deal, it's just some adhesive?" Well my friends, let me tell you...This first one may come as no surprise, especially if you have used it before, You can tear it. No need to have scissors to cut it to size. Yep, that's right just simply tear how ever much or little you need. And a few other simple base line reasons: it comes in a BUNCH of different sizes (widths), it's STRONG, and it VERY versatile. Versatile, you say??? YES!!!! Check it out...(oh ya and I am a glitter freak!)
So I picked up these really cute and inexpensive boxes at Micheal's. I know that they would be perfect for the upcoming holiday season. (or really any time actually) So to jazz them up and personalize them a bit more I used my 1/4" score tape and wrap right along the bottom of the box all the way around. Then took my red glitter and poured it out on a piece of paper and started rolling the box around in the glitter pile. Next I used my fingers to kind of "press it in" to the tape and then dusted off all the excess. To really make sure it was stuck into the tape I used my bone folder and "scraped" it across the glitter, not dig just a little scrapping motion.. This really helps to make sure glitter doesn't just get everywhere in the future as well. Then I moved onto my next color. I wanted it to be a thinner band then the red one was so I used my 1/8" Scor-Tape and wrapped it around my box slightly above the red one, leaving a little space between them so you can see the box a tad, and then repeated what I did above. On two of the boxes I finished off with a little bow and on the third I finished by stamping the beautiful wreath and thank you sentiment from the new release coming out on the 14th. SO, if you haven't joined in on our New Release Event party you can join HERE . (special things happen on that page so you are gonna want to join )
On the next BIG box, again from Micheal's, I used the 1 1/2" size Scor-Tape and tore off about an 8" piece. Layed it on some paper and poured my Vintage and Sparkle pink glitter on it. Rubbed it in really good to the Scor-Tape and then tore off another 8" strip and poured my blue Vintage and Sparkle glitter on it. Once I had my strips prepped with glitter I punched two different size circles out then peeled off the back and stuck them all around my box. I think I will call this the "Birthday Box". This was my first time playing around with this brand of glitter... and I am a fan! It has such a beautiful sparkle and shimmer and I just love that it also is a little iridescent-y. It worked so well with my project especially since it was a finer glitter, so, it really gave great coverage :) here is a little peek at the adorable little bottles it comes in.
Also check out what DT member Alyssa was inspired to make with Glitter Dots. I think you are going to love it!!! She used the same technique above to create her card. Isn't Scor-Tape such a wonderful thing!
