Technique, Mirror Image Stamping

Hello, it’s Nicole G., again, with another video technique, and I’m super excited to share this one with everyone.

This mirror image technique is so much fun to use, and it’s a great way to create really fun cards. I personally love to use this technique to create cute scenes or lovey-dovey cards—but go ahead and watch the video and once you've got this technique down feel free to use it your own way and have a great time!

I hope you learned something new - or if you already knew this technique maybe you're thinking of a new valentines card it would be great with - here's a snapshot of my card...

Amp It Up With Embossing Paste!

Oh boy, do I ever have some fun for you today.  I finally decided to try out a fun technique that people are just going crazy for and I can't wait until you see the final results.  I think you will love it but first our sketch for today is the current sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch which I totally adore.  Can't you just see it oozing inspiration?   

For my straightforward, by the book (er...sketch) card, I'm using the super fun Baking Love set.  This set is a total must have.  I have no idea how I have lived so long without it.  ;)

I knew I wanted to have the piping bag pipe out my sentiment and I played with a couple different options.  I settled for embossing the "hello" and then using a Versamark pen to extend the sentiment with a little squiggly line to the card's edge.  I stamped the piping bag on some patterned paper with splashes of pink to bring another color into the card.  A little cutting and I had a super cute popped up piping bag decorating my card for me.  Finish it off with a few glitter tape hearts and you have a great little take on this week's sketch.

For my ampped up take on the sketch, I'm going to use the Elegant Flowers stamps set.  I swear I have been turning to this set time and time again.  It's good for SO many occasions and who doesn't need a stamp set like that? 

I used a similar technique to last week's card in order to create a stencil with my Silhouette Cameo using the flower image from Elegant Flowers.  You can check out a step-by-step video on how I made this card on my YouTube channel.  Once I created the stencil for my background, I smeared the silver embossing paste over the top, pulled off the stencil, and let the image dry.  I loved the look of the silver embossing paste on the silver paper.  SO pretty.  I finished the card off by stamping the flower image on a piece of silver cardstock, cutting it out, and adding the image along with a die cut "thanks" to the card front.  A little bling and you have a much more involved version of our sketch.

Faux Frosting - How To!

Hello Sweet Friends!  It's Charlene here with you today. Welcome to the very first installment of Get Inky.  You're probably saying, "what???"  Before I explain, let me just say that I'm so happy to be on the team with a group of talented ladies.  I am deeply honored.   

I just adore this month's release.  The stamps are so cute!  I had a huge smile on my face when I received my stamps and of course also did a happy dance.  

For my card, I used the mixing bowl from Baking Love and borrowed the cutie face from the Press It Wash It set.

Shall we get started?  Are you ready to Get Inky?  Don't you just love the title?  Alyssa coined it and I love it!

For my card, I was thinking of a mixing bowl falling off the counter.  Seriously, that sentiment was too cute to pass up! 

 To Get Inky:  After stamping and coloring (LEFT), on to make some pink frosting (RIGHT).  I really wanted to use some embossing paste, but since mine hasn't come yet, I just used what I had in my stash.  I used Distress Stickles in clear rock candy - great consistency for this project.  I dabbed some ink on a craft sheet and mixed it with some clear rock candy until I got the right shade of pink to my liking. The next thing was freehand painting.

Here's my card: a mixing bowl doing a somersault and spilling all that pink frosting! I thought the sentiment is just perfect for this card.  How about that concerned looking face?  Isn't that just adorable?!   

I love experimenting in the kitchen, but sometimes things just don't go my way.

Embellishments

I'm here with the first of a new series titled "CAS + 1" where I will share CAS (Clean and Simple) cards with a little something extra.  Today I will focus on CAS + Embellishments using the absolutely delicious Baking Love set:

Personally I love this set for this time of year as well other occasions like birthdays -- so versatile! I think my twins will get of kick of out of the tags I plan to make for their 5th birthday next month, (which I will share in an upcoming post!).  

Okay, let me get back on topic -- CAS + Embellishments. Here is my take:

For this fun card, I tried to keep the focus on the main graphic and sentiment, using a white card stock base.  I added wood heart embellishments colored with markers coming out of the bowl. I love that the heart embellishments tie back to the little heart used in the sentiment, pulling the card together.  

So don't by shy about adding embellishments to your CAS cards.  Use embellishments that play off of the main graphic and/or sentiment.
